About Us
RIVUS is the Geomorphology and Water Resources Research Group, registered in the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and based at the Geosciences Institute of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Belo Horizonte city, Minas Gerais State, Brasil. The group is composed by Professors, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as by researchers with associated activities.
We develop research related to the following main thematic axes:
- geomorphology of continental environments, with emphasis on the role of hydrogeomorphological processes;
- inland water systems, with emphasis on the configuration, dynamics and protection of river systems, springs and wetlands;
- management and protection of water resources, with emphasis on uses, appropriation and relationships between human activities and degradation processes (risks and impacts).
